SCAPE 2006 Biennial of Art in Public Space is New Zealand’s only
biennial dedicated to the exhibition of contemporary art in public space.
It is organised by the Art & Industry Biennial Trust.
The SCAPE Biennial which runs during September-November on even years
in Christchurch was initiated by the Art & Industry Biennial Trust
(Art & Industry), established in 1999 in Christchurch, New Zealand.
The SCAPE Biennials aim to maximize the experience and access to visual
art through highly visible, interactive and engaging programmes, providing
a forum for artists to develop new and innovative artworks while creating
experiences that challenge and enrich the lives of the people of Christchurch
and its visitors. SCAPE 2006, the fourth biennial to be held by Art &
Industry will provide the city with significant, visible artworks, generated
through collaboration between artists and industry partners, which are
brokered by Art & Industry.
